    Tasigna 150 mg Tablets

    $50.00

WHAT IS TASIGNA 150 MG TABLET?

Nilotinib is a type of biological therapy called a protein tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). Tyrosine kinases are proteins that act as chemical messengers (enzymes). They can stimulate cancer cells to grow. Nilotinib blocks a tyrosine kinase protein called Bcr-Abl. The protein is made by chronic myeloid leukaemia cells that have an abnormal chromosome called the Philadelphia chromosome. Blocking this protein stops the leukaemia cells growing. 95 out of 100 people with CML (95%) have the Philadelphia chromosome.

    USES OF TASIGNA TABLETS:

Nilotinib is used to treat a type of blood cancer called Philadelphia chromosome positive chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Nilotinib is usually given after other medications have been tried without success.

Tasigna 150 mg Capsule is used in the treatment of blood cancer (Chronic myeloid leukaemia). It is used in patients whose disease could not be treated with other medications for leukaemia or who cannot take these medications.

    POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

This medication decreases bone marrow function, an effect that may lead to a low number of blood cells such as red cells, white cells, and platelets. This effect can cause anemia, decrease your body’s ability to fight an infection, or cause easy bruising/bleeding. Tell your doctor right away if you develop any of the following serious symptoms: severe tiredness, pale skin, signs of infection (such as fever, chills, persistent sore throat), easy bruising/bleeding (such as bloody/black stool, bloody/pink urine).

    COMMON SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE:

Nilotinib sometimes causes side effects due to the rapid destruction of cancer cells (tumor lysis syndrome). To lower your risk, your doctor may add a medication and tell you to drink plenty of fluids. Tell your doctor right away if you have symptoms such as: low back/side pain (flank pain), signs of kidney problems (such as painful urination, change in the amount of urine), muscle spasms/weakness.

Rash, itching, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, gas, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, tiredness, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, night sweats, muscle cramps, back, bone, joint, limb, or muscle pain, hair loss, dry or reddened skin, numbness, burning, or tingling in the hands or feet.

    DRUGS INTERACTIONS:

Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/non-prescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Does not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor’s approval.

Many drugs besides nilotinib may affect the heart rhythm (QT prolongation), including amiodarone, dofetilide, pimozide, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol, macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin), among others.

    DRUGS PRECAUTIONS:

Before taking nilotinib, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to lactose/galactose; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Nilotinib may cause a condition that affects the heart rhythm (QT prolongation). QT prolongation can rarely cause serious (rarely fatal) fast/irregular heartbeat and other symptoms (such as severe dizziness, fainting) that need medical attention right away.
