WHAT IS EMDUO-30 TABLETS?

Lamivudine prevents
the multiplication of HIV virus in human cells. Thus stops the HIV virus from
producing new viruses.

Lamivudine belongs to a class of medication
called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. It decreases the amount of
virus (HIV and hepatitis) in the blood. It also increases the number of
infection fighting cells in the body (CD 4 cells. Stavudine belongs to a group
of drugs called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). It
works by inhibiting multiplication of viruses thus decreasing their levels in
the infected patient.

MEDICINE USES:

Lamivudine indicated as part of antiviral
combination therapy for the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
infected adults and children and also used in the treatment of Hepatitis B
virus infection. Stavudine is used in combination with other anti-viral drugs
in the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection.

Emduo E 30 Kit is used for HIV, Suppression of immunity, Cancer, Infections,
HIV infection, Hepatitis b virus infection and other conditions. Emduo E 30
Kit may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Emduo E 30 Kit contains Efavirenz, Lamivudine, and Stavudine as
active ingredients.

Emduo E 30 Kit works by inhibiting multiplication of viruses;
blocking RNA-dependent DNA polymerase function in viral DNA replication;
increasing the number of infection-fighting cells in the body.

EMDUO-30 COMMON SIDE EFFECT:

On
using this medication you may experience side effects such as nausea, joint pain, difficulty
sleeping, diarrhea, cough, dizziness, swelling of the mouth, headache, reduced
appetite, weakness, vomiting,
darkening of the urine, numbness,
mental/ mood disorders, ear pain,
itchiness, sore throat and chest
pain. If your reactions persist or worsen over time
seek the help of your health care provider right away.

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Emduo
E 30 Kit. This is not a comprehensive list. These
side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects
may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the
following side-effects, especially if they do not go away.

Some
people develop lactic acidosis while taking lamivudine/Stavudine. Early
symptoms may get worse over time and this condition can be fatal. Get emergency
medical.

Muscle
pain or weakness; numb or cold feeling in your arms and legs; trouble breathing,
feeling dizzy, light-headed, tired, or very weak.
Stomach
pain, nausea with vomiting or fast or uneven heart rate.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of
an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips,
tongue, or throat.

EMDUO-30 TABLETS- DRUG PRECAUTIONS:

Before
using Emduo E 30 Kit, inform your doctor about your current list of
medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements,
etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g.
pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more
susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or
follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your
condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important
counseling points are listed below.

Always taken in combination with other
anti-HIV medicines and never alone

Any signs of skin rash or inflammation or
infection

Avoid drinking alcohol

Avoid driving and operating heavy machinery
if you experience dizziness from taking this medication

Avoid pregnancy

Children

EMDUO-30 TABLETS- DRUG INTERACTIONS: 

If you use other drugs or
over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Emduo E 30 Kit may
change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to
work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal
supplements you are using, so that your doctor can help you prevent or manage
drug interactions. Emduo E 30 Kit may interact with the following
drugs and products:

Ativan

Ergostat

Indinavir

Norvir

Saquinavir

Sulfamethoxazole
