WHAT IS ACITROM TABLETS?
Acitrom 1mg Tablet is a medicament to prevent blood clots which might be harmful and even fatal, thereby reducing the chances of stroke and cardiac arrest. It helps in increasing and catalyzing blood flow in the body by reducing the amount of blood clotting proteins in the blood stream. In simple term it is an anti-coagulant also known as blood thinner and belongs to semi synthetic origin.
USES OF ACITROM TABLETS:
Acitrom Tablet is used for Prevention or treatment of blood clotting, Blood clots in blood vessels, Deep venous thrombosis, Artificial heart valves, Artificial heart valve, Pulmonary embolism, Atrial fibrillation, Post heart attack and other conditions. Acitrom Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Acitrom Tablet contains Acenocoumarol as an active ingredient.
Acitrom Tablet works by inhibiting the formation of blood clots.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:
The most commonly reported side-effects of Acitrom Tablet are unexplained bruising, bleeding, coughing or vomitting blood, dizziness, bloody or black stools, and blood in the urine or farces.
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE:
The following is a list of possible side effects that may occur from the use of Acitrom Tablet. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side-effects, especially if they do not go away.
Unexplained bruising
Bleeding
Coughing or vomitting blood
Dizziness
Bloody or black stools
Blood in the urine or faeces
Inflammation of skin
Blood in urine
Urge to vomit
Joint pain
Internal bleeding
Back pain
Skin inflammation
Coughing or vomiting blood
Heavy bleeding from cuts or wounds
Arthralgia
Chronic headache
Nose bleeding

DRUGS PRECAUTIONS:
Before using Acitrom Tablet, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
Deficiency in protein C or S
Disorder affecting the absorption of food from the stomach
Exercise caution in case of elderly patients

Taking consistent levels of Vitamin K rich food

DRUGS INTERACTIONS:
If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Acitrom Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Acitrom Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Acenocoumarol may potentiate the risk of toxicity by phenytoin.
Aminoglutethimide, Azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, Ritonavir, Nelfinavir, Phenobarbital, Carbamazepine, Cholestyramine, Griseofulvin, Oral contraceptives, Rifampicin, Saint John’s wort, Foods rich in Vitamin K decrease the effects of Acenocoumarol.
Heparin, Antibiotics, Salicylic acid, Diflunisal, Clopidogrel, Ticlopidine, Phenylbutazone, Sulfinpyrazone, Sulfinpyrazone, Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, Allopurinol, Androgens, Anabolic steroids, Antiarrhythmic agents, Citalopram, Fluoxetine, Sertraline, Cimetidine, Clofibrate, Corticosteroids, Disulfiram, and Ethacrynic acid, Glucagon, Paracetamol, Sulfonylurea derivatives, Thyroid hormones, Statins, Tamoxifen, Proton pump inhibitors, Plasminogen activators, Thrombin inhibitors, Prokinetic agents, Antacids, Vitamin E increase the activity of Acenocoumarol.
