MAXIMUNE 500 MG TABLETS

Maximune is a
medicine composition of Saquinavir Mesylate and belongs to a class of drugs
known as protease inhibitors. It helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your
body so your immune system can work better.

WHAT IS THE
USE OF MAXIMUNE 500 MG SAQUINAVIR TABLETS?

Maximune 500 mg Tablet is an
antiviral medicine used in combination with ritonavir to treat human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This medicine is not a cure for HIV. It prevents
the virus from multiplying in your body. This medicine is not recommended for
use in patients below 16 years of age.

Maximune 500 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of HIV
infection.

Saquinavir, used in combination with other HIV
medications is used to help control HIV infection.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS OF SAQUINAVIR
500 MG MAXIMUNE TABLETS?

Maximune
500 Mg Tablet may cause some unwanted effects too. In such cases, you must seek
medical attention immediately. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects.
Please inform your doctor if you experience any adverse reaction to the
medication.

Belly
pain, diarrhea, Upset stomach or throwing up, Feeling tired or weak.

MAXIMUNE
TABLETS – DRUGS INTERACTIONS: 

Maximune 500 mg
Tablet is an anti-HIV medication. It works by interfering with an enzyme
(protease), which is required by HIV-infected cells to make new viruses. This
stops the production of new viruses.

In case of overdose, you are recommended to
discontinue the therapy until the toxicity resolves itself. Once the symptoms
of overdose pass, you may resume taking the full dose again. Prolongations of
PR and QT intervals are the side effects of Maximune 500 Mg Tablet.

MAXIMUNE TABLETS – DRUGS
PRECAUTIONS:

Take Maximune 500 mg Tablet exactly as instructed by the doctor.
Do not take in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. Ritonavir should
be taken at the same time you take this medicine. Ensure that proper hygiene
measures are adopted. Complete the course of treatment to prevent the spread of
the infection.

Consult your doctor about taking the medication if you had a
history of abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias), diarrhea, allergies, liver
diseases like hepatitis A or B, symptoms of inflammation from previous
infections due to HIV, autoimmune disorders, redistribution or accumulation or
loss of body fat, stiffness or aches or pains in joints, weakness or pain or
tenderness in muscles.

Take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of HIV to others.

If you are on therapy it is important to use effective
non-hormonal method of contraception or condom so that a pregnancy can be
avoided.

Do not drive or operate machinery as saquinavir/ritonavir can
cause dizziness or sleepiness or problems with vision.

Use
of saquinavir is not recommended in children.

Tell
your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following
signs or symptoms: Signs of an
allergic reaction; Signs of liver problems; Signs of high blood sugar; Signs of
low mood; Dizziness; Chest pain or pressure; Coughing up blood; Flu-like signs;
Seizures; Very bad headache; Shortness of breath; Swelling in the arms or legs;
Any unexplained bruising or bleeding; Very bad belly pain; Change in body fat.
