WHAT IS LOPIMUNE?
Lopinavir belongs to the class of medications called as antiretroviral agents. It works by inhibiting HIV viral protease enzyme and inhibiting viral replication (multiplication) thereby preventing the infection. Ritonavir belongs to a class of medication called protease inhibitors. It prevents HIV from multiplying inside the body.
MEDICINE USES :
Lopinavir is used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. It is always used in combination with other drugs used for the treatment of HIV. Ritonavir is used along with other medications for treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV 1) infection.
LOPINAVIR/RITONAVIR COMMON SIDE EFFECTS :
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; high cholesterol; or changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist).
Call your doctor at once if you have:
severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea, and vomiting;
itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer (if you take Lopinavir with erectile dysfunction medication);
muscle weakness, tired feeling, joint or muscle pain, feeling short of breath; or
signs of a new infection–fever, night sweats, swollen glands, mouth sores, diarrhea, stomach pain, weight loss;
chest pain (especially when you breathe), dry cough, wheezing, feeling short of breath;
cold sores, sores on your genital or anal area;
rapid heart rate, feeling anxious or irritable, weakness or prickly feeling, problems with balance or eye movement;
trouble speaking or swallowing, severe lower back pain, loss of bladder or bowel control; or
swelling in your neck or throat (enlarged thyroid), menstrual changes, impotence, loss of interest in sex.

SAFETY INFORMATION (Precautions) for LOPIMUNE LOPINAVIR/RITONAVIR TABLETS :
Before using this drug, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
Children
Consult a doctor if you have hemophilia or pancreatitis
Have high cholesterol or triglyceride levels, hemophilia or another bleeding disorder
History of kidney problems, liver problems, pancreas problems, diabetes, low potassium or magnesium blood levels, heart problems, heart blood vessel problems, or irregular heartbeat
Monitor glucose, lipid, and uric acid regularly
Pregnancy
MEDICATION STORAGE REQUIREMENTS :
Store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Exposure to high humidity outside of the original container for >2 weeks is not recommended.

antiviral medicines to treat hepatitis C or HIV;
cancer medicine;
medicine to prevent organ transplant rejection;
an antibiotic–bedaquiline, clarithromycin, metronidazole, rifabutin;
antifungal medicine–itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole;
heart or blood pressure medicine–amiodarone, felodipine, lidocaine, nicardipine, nifedipine, quinidine;
medicine to prevent blood clots–rivaroxaban, warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven);
