INVOKANA TABLETS
Invokana 100 Mg Tablet helps in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Patients
who are prescribed Invokana 100 Mg Tablet are also given a specific diet and
advised to exercise regularly.
Known to
be a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, Invokana 100 Mg Tablet
reduces the quantity of sugar that is absorbed by the body and
flushes it out of the system through urine.
INVOKANA USES:
The drug
should not be used by patients who suffer from type 1 diabetes, or individuals
who are allergic to any component that it has. Individuals with high levels of
ketone in the urine, or liver and kidney issues should also avoid Invokana
100 Mg Tablet.
Canagliflozin is used with a proper diet
and exercise program to control high blood sugar in
people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood
sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve
problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may
also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
Canagliflozin works by increasing the removal of sugar by your kidneys.
INVOKANA TABLETS COMMON SIDE EFFECT:
Frequent urination, unusual dry
mouth, dizziness, and lightheadedness may occur. If any of these
effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
To reduce the risk of dizziness and
lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
Remember that your doctor has
prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the
benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this
medication do not have serious side effects.
Some
side effects that have been reported by patients taking this medicine are infection of
the vagina, vulvitis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, and
vulvovaginitis. If any of these side effects continue to persist for a long
period of time or tend to become worse, immediate medical help should be
sought. Some extremely rare side effects that may occur because of Invokana
100 Mg Tablet intake are the development of sensitivity to light and skin
discoloration.
INVOKANA TABLETS – DRUG PRECAUTIONS:
Before initiating Invokana, consider factors in the patient history that may predispose to the need for
amputations, such as a history of prior amputation, peripheral vascular disease,
neuropathy and diabetic foot ulcers. Counsel patients about the importance of
routine preventative foot care. Monitor patients receiving Invokana for signs
and symptoms of infection (including osteomyelitis), new pain or
tenderness, sores or ulcers involving the lower limbs, and discontinue Invokana
if these complications occur.
Invokana is
used together with other diabetes medicines to control blood sugar and
avoids long-term complications.
You should
continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other
diabetes medicines along with Invokana.
Invokana also
helps reduce weight and blood pressure.
Invokana may
cause you to urinate more often, so make sure you stay hydrated.
Can cause
genital fungal and/or urinary tract infections (UTIs) in both females and
males.
Can cause
hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other anti-diabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal.
INVOKANA TABLETS – DRUG INTERACTION:
