WHAT IS INVANZ INJECTION?
Invanz is a carbapenem antibiotic. It works by killing sensitive bacteria.
USES OF INVANZ INJECTION:
Invanz 1 gm Injection is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of infections caused by bacteria such as infections in the stomach, pelvis, urinary tract, skin, and lungs. It should be used with caution in patients with central nervous system disorders.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:
Invanz 1 Gm Injection may present a large number of side effects such as diarrhoea, vomiting, dizziness, minor pain, headache, swelling or redness at the injection site and nausea. Some serious allergic reactions are allergic rashes, hives, itching, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath and difficulty in breathing, chest pain, sore throat, mood swings, stomach cramps, tremors, swelling of hands or feet and much more. In case any such symptom shows, a doctor must be consulted without delay.
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE:
The following is a list of side effects that may occur from the use of Invanz Injection. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious.
Severe allergic reactions; bloody stools; chest pain; decreased coordination; decreased urination; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or sore throat; mental or mood changes; muscle weakness; seizures; severe or persistent diarrhea; severe or persistent dizziness or headache; severe pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site; severe stomach cramps.
DRUGS PRECAUTIONS:
Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.
Invanz 1 gm Injection is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering which is needed for them to survive.
Before using ertapenem, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to penicillins or cephalosporins; or if you have any other allergies. Before getting ertapenem by injection into a muscle, also tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any amide-type local anesthetics (such as lidocaine). This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
DRUGS INTERACTIONS:
Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/non-prescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not starts, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor’s approval.
Some products that may interact with this drug include: valproic acid and related drugs (such as divalproex sodium, sodium valproate).
Although most antibiotics are unlikely to affect hormonal birth control such as pills, patch, or ring, a few antibiotics (such as rifampin, rifabutin) can decrease their effectiveness. This could result in pregnancy. If you use hormonal birth control, ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
