WHAT
IS GEFITRUST TABLETS?
Gefitrust Gefitinib is a
type of drug called a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), also known as a cancer
growth inhibitor. Kinesis are proteins in the body that regulate how the cells
grow and divide. Gefitinib blocks (inhibits) the protein from sending signals
to the cancer cells that make them grow and divide.
USES OF GEFITRUST TABLETS:
Gefitrust 250mg tablet is
used to treat some people with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It only
works for cancers that have an abnormal form of a protein called epidermal
growth factor receptor (EGFR). Tests are done on the cancer cells from a lung
biopsy or previous surgery to check the level of EGFR.

SIDE EFFECTS:
All medicines may cause side
effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your
doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
Gefitrust 250Mg Tablet helps to relieve the
extreme pain and discomfort suffered by patients of breast or lung cancers. It
slows down the production of cancer cells,
thereby inhibiting the spread of the malignant tissues. It can be administered
orally with or without food.
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS MAY
INCLUDE:
The
following is a list of possible side effects that may occur from the use of
Gefitrust Tablet. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are
possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but
serious. Consult your physician if you observe any of the following
side-effects, especially if they do not go away.
Side Effects of Gefitrust
are Nausea, Rash, Vomiting, Weakness, Loss of appetite, Dry skin, Diarrhoea,
Stomatitis (Inflammation of the mouth).
DRUGS PRECAUTIONS:
Take this medicine in the
dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not
chew, crush or break it. Gefitrust 250 mg Tablet may be taken with or without
food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Gefitrust 250 mg Tablet is
an anti-cancer medication. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal
protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the
spread of cancer cells.
DRUGS INTERACTIONS:
Do
not take antacids (to reduce the acid level of your stomach) 2 hours before or
1 hour after taking Gefitinib.
Take
the tablet at about the same time each day.
Do
not give Gefitinib to children.
Do
not take Gefitinib, if you are allergic to Gefitinib or similar medicines or to
any of the other ingredients.
Avoid
using Gefitinib, if you are pregnant or are breast-feeding.
Avoid
becoming pregnant during treatment with Gefitinib because it could harm your
baby.
If
you are taking a medicine containing warfarin as an active substance, your
doctor may need to do blood tests more often.
You
may feel weak while taking this medicine is careful while driving or using
tools or machines.
