WHAT IS BICELTIS INJECTION?

Trastuzumab is a monoclonal antibody. Trastuzumab works by targeting the HER2/neu receptor on cancer cells.  The HER2 gene produces a protein receptor on the cell surface that signals normal cell growth by telling the cell to divide and multiply.  Some cancerous breast tissue has too much HER2 (HER2/neu over expression), triggering the cells to divide and multiply very rapidly. 

USES OF BICELTIS INJECTION:

Trastuzumab is used to treat metastatic (spread) breast cancer.  It is effective against tumors that over express the HER2/neu protein. As part of chemotherapy regimen for adjuvant treatment of lymph-node positive, HER2/neu protein positive breast cancer. Treatment of gastric (stomach) cancer. It is not known whether or not trastuzumab may be effective in other cancers that may also have this HER-2/neu protein, including ovarian, colon, endometrial, lung, bladder, prostate, and salivary gland tumors.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

Side effects that are less common, but may occur none the less are diarrhea, headache, cough, vomiting, rashes and problems with breathing.

When it comes to serious side effects of Biceltis 440Mg Injection, problems with the ‘pumping action of the heart’ is very common. This increases the chances of a heart attack in cancer patients who may already be suffering from heart disease.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE:

A few common side effects of this drug are- fever and chills after the first doze. The doctor may provide medicine to prevent this side effect. Other includes pain in the body, nausea and weakness.

Side Effects of Biceltis are Nausea, Headache, Rash, Low blood platelets, Congestive cardiac failure, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Infection, Upper respiratory tract infection, Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), Fatigue, Fever, Anemia (low number of red blood cells), Chills, Diarrhoea, Cough, Weight loss, Taste change, Mucosal inflammation, Decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils), Stomatitis (Inflammation of the mouth).

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

Biceltis 440 mg Injection is a monoclonal antibody specifically designed to target HER2 receptors on breast cancer and stomach cancer cells. It flags the cancer cells for destruction by the body’s immune system.

DRUGS INTERACTIONS:

Take extreme care while taking trastuzumab as it can cause heart failure, especially if you have heart disease or if you are also receiving certain other cancer medicines.

You may need to undergo biopsy test during trastuzumab treatment to check the effect of trastuzumab.

Do not drive or operate machinery as trastuzumab may cause fever or chills.

Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
